3rd Year Fellows


Annie Antar, MD, PhD

Undergraduate: Harvard University
Medical School, Grad Year: Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, 2010
Residency: Johns Hopkins Hospital, 2013

Annie grew up in Huntsville, AL, and then went to college at Harvard. After that, she spent the rest of her 20s in Nashville, TN, earning a MD-PhD at Vanderbilt and playing a lot of rugby all around the country. Her PhD research on reovirus pathogenesis was mentored by Terry Dermody. She then trained in internal medicine in the Osler residency program at Hopkins. Between residency and fellowship, she worked as a hospitalist in Denver and Fort Collins, CO. She will be working in the lab of Bob Siliciano, who studies HIV latency, after finishing her clinical year.

Samuel Holzman, MD

Undergraduate: Brown University

Residency: Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine

Sam grew up in Albany, NY. He obtained his degree in marine biology from Brown University before turning his attention toward medicine. After two years in American Samoa running a community health worker intervention, he attended Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. He then completed residency at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Following his clinical year, Sam will pursue a PhD in Clinical Investigation at the Bloomberg School of Public Health. His research will focus on latent tubercular infection and will be working with Susan Dorman atthe Center for TB Research.
