Clinical Updates from Johns Hopkins Medical Imaging

We’re continually rolling out updates and expansions to provide an excellent imaging experience for your patients. Learn about our recent updates regarding additional CT capacity, masking requirements, and online scheduling for patients.

  • Our Green Spring Station location is now offering additional CT capacity with the re-opening of the CT scanner in Pavilion 1, Suite 130 in order to increase appointment availability Monday - Friday. The CT scanner in Pavilion III, Suite 1100 will continue in operation as well. Patients will be notified with their pre-appointment information about which location their scheduled CT exam will be performed.

  • Masks are continuing to be required at all Johns Hopkins Medicine facilities, regardless of vaccine status. (Exceptions are for children under age 3.) This includes all four outpatient Johns Hopkins Medical Imaging centers in Bethesda, Columbia, Green Spring Station, and White Marsh. We are also continuing to ask patients to call from their cars to check-in, and asking visitors to wait in their cars or in nearby café due to waiting room capacity.

  • Patients with paper orders for an ultrasound, X-ray, DEXA, or CT exam can still schedule online through MyChart. Patients will be able to schedule online as soon as the paper order is transcribed. MyChart offers patients a quick and easy way to pick the best date, time, and location. More information on how patients can sign up and schedule online.

Q: Why have patients been receiving reports on their exam so quickly?

A: To comply with new federal regulations by The Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, patients’ radiology reports are now released immediately in the Johns Hopkins MyChart patient portal upon final signature by the radiologist. More information on the 21st Century Cure’s Act.
