Cancer Support Groups

Caregiver’s Support Group:  Third Tuesday of each month, 3:30 - 5 p.m. This support group is designed for people who are caring for a loved one with chronic illness. The group offers a safe place to air concerns and receive support. The support group is facilitated by Laurie Thorner, MSW, LCSW-C. Registration required.

Breast Cancer Support Group: Third Wednesday of each month, 6:30 - 8 p.m. This ongoing group, facilitated by Laurie Thorner, MSW, LCSW-C, is open to all breast cancer patients. Registration required.

Living with Cancer: Fourth Monday of each month, 5:30 - 7 p.m. Designed to meet the needs of men and women cancer patients diagnosed with Stage IV or metastatic disease and their caregivers. We offer a safe and welcoming place that provides encouragement, support and education. The support group is facilitated by Laurie Thorner, MSW, LCSW-C. Registration required.

Knitting and Crochet Group: Wednesdays from 10 a.m.- noon. This group is designed for patients and survivors. Join us for fellowship and fun. Basic skills are required, no instructor is present. Finished projects are donated to the CMTBCRC. Registration required.

Together We Thrive: Second Saturday of each month, 10 -11:30 a.m. Patient support group for men and women diagnosed with cancer, where participants can share, explore, and be encouraged in a safe environment. This group is also open to caregivers. Facilitated by Mary M. Dowling. Registration required.

These groups meet in the Claudia Mayer / Tina Broccolino Cancer Resource Center at 11065 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia, Maryland 21044, Suite 150. Come through the entrance on the narrow side of the building.
