Howard County General Hospital’s Elizabeth Edsall Kromm receives Trustees’ Award - 04/30/2018

COLUMBIA, Md.—Elizabeth Edsall Kromm, vice president of population health and advancement for Howard County General Hospital, will receive the 2018 Trustees’ Award for Outstanding Service to Howard Community College. The award recognizes those who have committed significant time and effort to the college.

Kromm chaired a health care task force as part of Howard Community College’s Commission on the Future to identify future opportunities for the college. The task force recommended the college further training in person-centered and team-based care, emphasizing patient engagement and soft skills for health care providers.

“Through thoughtful, collaborative leadership, Elizabeth guided her task force in exploring the health care arena and making recommendations that will position the college to prepare the health care workforce of the future,” said Kate Hetherington, president of Howard Community College. “I am grateful to Elizabeth for her dedication to the Commission on the Future process and her investment in higher education and the future of Howard Community College. She is an extraordinary professional and great friend of the college.”

Kromm leads population health activities and strategic planning efforts for Howard County General Hospital and sets the strategic direction for development and community engagement. She also helps position the hospital to meet the new challenges of a dynamic health care delivery system and serves as president of the Howard Hospital Foundation.

Among her community service activities, Kromm serves on the Community Foundation of Howard County board, the Housing and Community Development subcommittee of the Howard County Economic Opportunity and Prosperity Task Force as well as the Howard County Public School System superintendent’s Program Innovation Advisory Board.

She received a 2017 Leading Women award from The Daily Record.

Kromm earned a doctorate in health policy and management from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where she also serves as an adjunct assistant professor. She holds a master’s degree in international health policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a bachelor’s degree in the history and sociology of science from the University of Pennsylvania. She is a 2017 Premier graduate of Leadership Howard County.
