Overview

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in both men and women, accounting for more deaths than prostate cancer, breast cancer and colorectal cancer combined.

Lung cancer has three classifications: non-small cell lung cancer, small cell lung cancer and mesothelioma.

Cigarette smoking is the most common risk factor for lung cancer, accounting for about 90 percent of cases.
