David Hackam is surgeon-in-chief of the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center and the Garrett Family Professor of Pediatric Surgery. He specializes in pediatric general surgery with an emphasis on neonatal surgery. A leading authority on inflammatory bowel diseases in newborns, he leads a research team that advances the understanding of how these severe disorders work and is currently devising new ways to treat them.
