Mary Joyner, a Baltimore resident and former nurse practitioner at Johns Hopkins, shares her story about how animal research saved her life from Blue Baby Syndrome as a child when she had to undergo open heart surgery. Dr. Joseph Mankowski takes us back in time to talk about Anna, the dog Dr. Alfred Blalock and Vivian Thomas operated on in order to perfect the Blue Baby operation.
