The Johns Hopkins University Center for Global Emergency Care (CGEC) is an academic and research center that aims to provide expertise and leadership in the development of emergency care worldwide. The center, based within the Johns Hopkins Emergency Medicine Department, coordinates efforts in global emergency care activities across The Johns Hopkins University.

Our Mission and Vision

Our vision is to improve the outcomes of people affected by health emergencies by increasing access to high-quality emergency care across the globe.

Our mission is to lead global emergency care development in collaboration with international experts and build on the tripartite mission of Johns Hopkins Medicine of education, research, and patient care. We focus on three strategies to accomplish this mission:

  • Training a full spectrum of health professionals in a variety of global settings to become emergency care practitioners and leaders.
  • Innovating and collaborating to conduct groundbreaking research in emergency care that improves outcomes, influences policy and advances sustainable health system development.
  • Building health system resilience and strengthening global health security by expanding emergency care capacity.

Our Faculty

Our faculty has dedicated their expertise to improving patient care through research and training. We foster research and innovation, develop evidence-based education and training programs, create partnerships and strengthen emergency care systems. Not only do we push the limits on emergency medical care and innovation, we also educate the next generation of health care leaders, researchers and mentors.
