Applicants must currently be house officers (interns or residents) at U.S. training programs in internal medicine.
Research must show results (not merely proposed design).
Research may have been conducted prior to housestaff training (e.g., medical school, college, masters program).
Research may have been already presented/published (if so, please attach).
Submissions will be evaluated on:
- Quality of applicant/likelihood for success in academic medicine
- Commitment to career in academic GIM
- Quality of research
Each applicant must select the category in which they wish to compete, complete an application form (including a statement of interest in academic GIM and an abstract summarizing research), and have two (2) letters of recommendation submitted by individuals who are familiar with the applicant's qualifications and research (e.g., residency director, research mentor).
