Your Program Experience
All patients have an evaluation by one of our specialty physicians at the Healthful Eating, Activity & Weight Program who performs a comprehensive evaluation and physical examination that typically lasts about 60 minutes. We will review options of scientifically proven methods to help you make lifestyle changes and lose weight. Before this visit, you will need to complete several forms, including a 3-day food diary. These forms will be sent to you before your visit or you can access them online (you must be on a computer to download, complete, and save the form). We will also ask that you bring the results of any laboratory tests that you may have had in the past 6 months.
At the end of this visit, you will receive a summary from your physician. Our staff will ensure that follow-up appointments with our physician or for our other services are made before you leave.
After the first evaluation, we may recommend that you to participate in one of our group programs. You can register for a group with our staff before you leave or online through the MyChart portal.
All patients will have follow-up visits with one of our specialty physicians. We use a team-based approach to allow you to meet with a physician that is available at a time that works best with your schedule. We may also recommend that you have an evaluation with one of the other experts at the Healthful Eating, Activity and Weight Program such as nutrition, psychology, hepatology, or bariatric surgery, if needed.
Many services at the Healthful Eating, Activity and Weight Program may be covered by your health insurance. We usually bill your insurance for physician visits, group visits, and visits with other providers such as psychology. We encourage all patients to check their benefits coverage prior to their first appointment.
