Electronic Triage
Crowded emergency departments (ED) must maintain systems to quickly distinguish patients with critical conditions (e.g., myocardial ischemia, sepsis) from those with less urgent needs (e.g., indigestion, minor infections). Current standards for patient triage are based upon subjective judgment and have deficiencies in differentiating patients based on critical outcomes. “HopScore” was developed to address this by supporting evidence-based triage decisions using clinical information readily available at ED triage. HopScore uses machine-learning methods to predict risk of critical outcomes and inpatient admission to direct safe and optimal emergency care.
