The Avon Foundation provides
support to the Johns Hopkins
Breast Center.

Starting in October, 2003, the Avon Foundation  awarded a $10 million gift to the Johns Hopkins Sydney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center (link to ) to increase awareness of the life-saving benefits of early detection of breast cancer. Part of the gift funded the expansion of the breast cancer survivor program, where breast cancer survivors volunteer their time and help newly-diagnosed breast cancer patients through their experience. The Avon gift also funded a community outreach initiative and laboratory support.

The Avon Foundation has continued to support us by providing grant funding for  breast cancer laboratory research, nurse navigation, and web site support.

As part of the Avon Foundation’s Breast Cancer Crusade, Johns Hopkins was funded as a Center of Excellence. As of 2008, the Breast Cancer Crusade has raised more than $585 million worldwide to advance access to quality care for all women, and for research into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure of breast cancer.

The Avon Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity, was founded in 1955 with a mission to improve the lives of women by supporting programs that offer economic opportunity and provide care and research for breast cancer in the U.S. and around the world.
