Kidney Blockage
If the tube that carries urine from the kidney becomes clogged or narrowed, a condition known as ureteropelvic junction obstruction, surgeons may perform laparoscopic pyeloplasty to clear the blockage. During this minimally invasive procedure, three small keyhole incisions are made in the abdomen to allow doctors to repair the tube. This minimally invasive approach provides patients with a faster recovery.
A small stent is kept in after the procedure to help the kidney drain properly. This stent will be removed after four weeks.

Kidney Cysts
Although kidney cysts don’t always need to be treated, patients whose cysts cause pain or other symptoms can choose laparoscopic cyst ablation. Using three to four small incisions, a surgeon can access and remove the cysts while preserving the rest of the kidney. This minimally invasive approach provides patients with a faster recovery.
