Why did you decide to join Johns Hopkins Medicine?

Johns Hopkins is a wonderful place to practice medicine – it is really unlike any other academic health center. I was drawn to the rich traditions, the depth and breadth of research and education, as well as an incredible group of anesthesiologists and surgeons. Lastly, I admired Dean Rothman’s vision and perspectives on medicine, equity and commitment to our local community – I thought “I want to work for this guy!”

Why have you decided to stay at Johns Hopkins Medicine?

I’ve stayed for all the reasons mentioned above as they are still present!

Please tell us about how you reached your leadership position.

My leadership journey was strategic, and the trajectory was based on my family needs as well as opportunities presented to me. Many leadership roles are quite demanding of one’s time – I moved up into roles with increasing responsibility as my children grew up – I am an empty-nester now!

Which of your accomplishments are you most proud of at Johns Hopkins Medicine?

I am most proud of my department! I work with an incredibly talented group of healthcare providers whose accomplishments and advancements make me very proud!
