Zain Gowani

Zain Gowani

What are your career goals?
Becoming a community leader, focusing on organizational practice, medical ethics and community engagement.

What are some of your main interests outside of medicine?
Exploring the city as a flock with my co-interns, schooling Hopkins undergraduates on the basketball court with Pranav Patel, superfluous smack-talking in my fantasy football leagues, conducting unofficial pizza tastings around Baltimore (eating pizza by yourself can totally be a hobby), binge-reading crime novels while on vacation.

What is one thing you love about Johns Hopkins Bayview?
Johns Hopkins Bayview is situated at this intersection between these two worlds of academic and personal practice. This is more than rhetoric. For me a resident, it defines the lens through which I am exposed and learn to navigate the science and practicalities of delivering medical care. What I appreciate most about Johns Hopkins Bayview is that this is represented in both its macro- and micro-environments, and that this is reflected in my experience as a trainee. From a programmatic and faculty standpoint, there is an intentional cultural expression of this intersection. When combined with the program's focus on resident wellness, it's really been a refreshing way to experience medical training.
