Contract and Benefits
All house staff of the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions are offered contracts for one year, renewable on an annual basis for the duration of the residency training program at the discretion of the program director. The agreement and supporting graduate medical education policies of The Johns Hopkins University is in accordance with the regulations of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
Resident Salaries for 2016-2017: Intern (PGY-1) $56,039.
Residents receive two two-week blocks of vacation during the year and one week vacation during Christmas/New Year's, making a total of five weeks of vacation in a given year.

- Residents receive a yearly meal stipend. Food is also provided at noon conference 5 times per week.
Computer and Library Services
The William H. Welch Medical Library, at the corner of Monument and Wolfe Streets, is the central resource facility serving the biomedical information needs of house staff and faculty. The library houses more than 367,000 books and subscribes to more than 3,400 journals. With a library card, users have free access to databases, including MED2000, the Human Genome Database, and Direct Internet. Classes are offered to assist staff in finding and managing the literature effectively.
