Dedication of the Dr. Frieda Bambas Professorship in Ophthalmology

December 1, 2011

The many achievements of Hendrik P.N. Scholl, M.D., M.A. were recognized and celebrated at the dedication of the Dr. Frieda Derdeyn Bambas Professorship in Ophthalmology on December 1. During the dedication ceremony, Scholl was installed as the inaugural recipient of the professorship. Family, friends, colleagues, staff, and donors gathered to celebrate this momentous occasion.

In appreciation for the care she received at Wilmer during treatment for macular degeneration in 2002, Dr. Bambas made a provision in her will to establish the Dr. Frieda Derdeyn Bambas Professorship in Ophthalmology, before she passed in 2005. Wilmer was honored to have her nephew, Conrad J. Derdeyn, Colonel, US Army (RET), attended the dedication in her stead.
