Dr. Derek Welsbie Receives RPB Career Development Award

Dr. Derek Welsbie, an assistant professor of ophthalmology in the glaucoma division at Wilmer, has received a Career Development Award from Research to Prevent Blindness. The four-year, $250,000 award is given to junior ophthalmology faculty who will devote at least 60% of their time to research activities. Dr. Welsbie is currently researching the genetic causes of glaucoma, with the goal of developing new and more effective treatments.
