Hendrik P.N. Scholl, M.D., M.A., the Dr. Frieda Derdeyn Bambas Professor of Ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute and director of visual neurophysiology, has received a Pfizer Ophthalmics Carl Camras Translational Research Award, presented by the ARVO Foundation for Eye Research. The awards honor early career researchers (under age 45) whose discoveries have had a direct impact on patient care. Dr. Scholl was honored for his research on retinal dystrophies and age-related macular degeneration.
Dr. Scholl and the other two recipients each received a $10,000 award, presented on May 4 at ARVO's (Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology) annual meeting.
