Dr. Peter Campochiaro Honored by Macula Society

November 6, 2012

Peter Campochiaro

Dr. Peter Campochiaro, the George S. & Dolores Doré Eccles Professor of Ophthalmology and Neuroscience at the Wilmer Eye Institute, has been selected by the Macula Society to receive the 2013 Arnall Patz Medal. The medal, given for outstanding contributions in the study of retinal vascular and macular diseases, will be presented to Dr. Campochiaro at the Society's 36th annual meeting in late February in Dana Point, CA. Dr. Neil Bressler, the James P. Gills Professor of Ophthalmology and chief of Wilmer's retina division, has been chosen by Dr. Campochiaro to present the medal.

Dr. Campochiaro has been a member of the Wilmer faculty since 1991. His major research interests are the roles of peptide growth and trophic factors in the retina and retinal pigmented-epithelium, with an ultimate goal of developing new treatments for proliferative retinopathies, choroidal neovascularization and retinal degenerations.

Founded in 1977, the Macula Society is a forum for new research in retinal vascular and macular diseases.
