Howard S. Ying, M.D., Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute, The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Ying specializes in medical and surgical diseases of the retina and complicated adult strabismus after retinal surgery. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Ying is actively researching the vexing problem of ocular dysmotility and double vision after retinal surgery. Dr. Ying is board-certified in ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Ying trained in biomedical engineering at the Whitaker Institute at Johns Hopkins University, earned his medical degree and doctorate in neurosciences at Washington University, completed ophthalmology residency at the Doheny Eye Institute at University of Southern California, and performed medical and surgical retina fellowship again at Johns Hopkins. Dr. Ying has won numerous awards throughout his training, including the Raymond R. Margherio Award for macular research from the Retina Society, AOS-Knapp Fellowship from the Herman Knapp Testimonial Fund, and the Heed Fellowship from the Heed Ophthalmic Foundation.
Dr. Ying sees patients at the Wilmer Eye Institute's Johns Hopkins Hospital and Green Spring Station locations.
