Akrit Sodhi, M.D., Ph.D., is an assistant professor of ophthalmology in the retina division at the Wilmer Eye Institute. Dr. Sodhi has subspecialty training in the medical and surgical management of vitreoretinal diseases, with an interest in intraocular tumors.
Dr. Sodhi graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles. He subsequently obtained his medical degree (M.D.) and Ph.D. from the University of California at Davis. He interned at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore and completed his ophthalmology residency training at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins in 2008. He continued at the Wilmer Eye Institute on the faculty within its Advanced Specialty Training Program (fellowship) in retina while also serving as an Assistant Chief of Service (chief resident) for the Wilmer residents prior to joining the Wilmer Retina Division in 2010. Dr. Sodhi’s research interests, currently sponsored by a grant from the National Eye Institute, include the examination of the role of Hypoxia Inducible Factor (HIF) in ocular disease.
Dr. Sodhi sees patients with diseases of the retina at the Wilmer Eye Institute's Johns Hopkins Hospital and Columbia locations.
