Parsa, M.D. is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Krieger Children’s Eye Center at the Wilmer Institute. He has subspecialty training in both neuro-ophthalmology and pediatric ophthalmology. His referral clinical practice in strabismus encompasses adults as well as children. He is experienced in using alternatives to patching for the management of amblyopia, in using adjustable suture strabismus surgery for both children and adults, including specialized techniques for Duane syndrome, and in using botulinum toxin to treat strabismus. In the field of pediatric neuro-ophthalmology, he has special expertise in those areas involving normal and abnormal visual development, and in the effect of injury and tumors on the visual system (congenital optic disc anomalies, optic nerve glioma). Much of his research has focused on abnormalities of the vascular system in the eye and surrounding structures, and the relationship of these to systemic abnormalities (Sturge-Weber syndrome, papillo-renal syndrome, Down syndrome). He has been an active member in the Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology, and in the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society. Click here for Dr. Parsa's CV. |
