Josephine O. Owoeye, O.D., M.P.H. is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She specializes in the treatment of refractive errors and amblyopia, and she assists in the management of strabismus cases in children and adults. She also has an expertise in performing comprehensive eye examinations for children with special needs. Dr. Owoeye’s research and clinical interest is in preventable blindness in children.
Dr. Owoeye received her B.S. in biology and psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park. She earned a B.S. in visual sciences and her optometry degree at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, where she also completed residency training in Pediatric Optometry. She also earned a Master of Public Health degree at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Dr. Owoeye is a fellow in the American Academy of Optometry. She is a certified optometrist licensed to practice in Maryland. Outside of work, Dr. Owoeye enjoys spending time with her husband and their children.
