Nicholas Mahoney

Dr. Mahoney is an assistant professor in the Division of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Wilmer Eye Institute. He specializes in surgery on the tissue surrounding the eyes, including the eyelids, eye socket and tear drainage system. This includes removal of benign and malignant (cancerous) lesions of the eyelid and eye socket, repair of eyelid and eye socket trauma, reconstruction of the tear ducts and both functionally reconstructive and cosmetic surgery on the eyelids and the face.

Dr Mahoney received his B.S. in Biology from the University of Missouri and his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Scheie Eye Institute, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Mahoney then completed additional specialty training as an American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) fellow at the Wilmer Eye Institute and Johns Hopkins Hospital.
