Alisa Kim, M.D.

Alisa Kim, M.D.

Alisa Kim, M.D., is a Cornea, Cataract, Refractive Surgery, and External Diseases specialist at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland.  A board-certified ophthalmologist and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Dr. Kim has expertise in laser refractive surgery, cataract surgery, and other anterior segment surgeries, such as corneal transplantation. 

Dr. Kim’s research at Wilmer focuses on the improvement of surgical outcomes in laser refractive surgery, the accuracy of intraocular pressure measurements in individuals with abnormal corneas, and alterations in corneal biomechanics in post-surgical and pathologic corneas.  She is an investigator for the VISX excimer laser clinical trials conducted at Johns Hopkins.  Additionally, she trains other physicians as a proctor for the IntraLase femtosecond laser used for laser vision correction.    

Dr. Kim received her B.A. in molecular and cellular biology at the University of California at Berkeley prior to completing her medical training at the University of California at Los Angeles School of Medicine.  After her internship at the University of California at San Francisco Medical Center, Dr. Kim completed her ophthalmology residency training at the Jules Stein Eye Institute, University of California at Los Angeles.  She received her fellowship training in Cornea, Anterior Segment Diseases, and Refractive surgery at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins.
