Dr. Michelle Hessen, OD received her Doctorate of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University in Florida. She completed her optometry residency in ocular disease at the Baltimore VA Medical Center which included training in Ocular Surface Disease and Dry Eye Clinic at Johns Hopkins. Following her residency, she was employed at Ludwick Eye Center, where she performed general ophthalmic care and managed pre and post-operative cataract surgery patients. Dr. Hessen is currently on staff at the Wilmer Eye Institute and is a vital part of the Ocular Surface Disease and Dry Eye Team. . She completed a nine-week PROSE Clinical Fellowship at Boston Foundation for Sight in 2011, adding Prosthetic Replacement of the Ocular Surface Ecosystem (PROSE) device fitting to her clinical interests and skills.
