Ahmad, M.D., is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. A board-certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Ahmad specializes in the evaluation and management of patients with routine and complicated glaucoma. He is skilled in most glaucoma laser surgery techniques and his experience with incisional surgery includes glaucoma filtering surgery, glaucoma tube implants, the revision of glaucoma filtering procedures, and combined cataract and glaucoma surgery. He has special interests in advanced surgical techniques for previously operated eyes, patients with corneal transplants, and neovascular glaucomas. His research interests are in developing novel glaucoma implants as well as utilizing medical informatics tools to improve patient education and health care delivery. Dr. Ahmad received his medical degree at Tufts University School of Medicine where he was inducted into the prestigious AOA national medical honor society. He then served as a General Medical Officer in the United States Air Force for 4 years. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Duke University where he was also selected as Chief Resident and later completed his Glaucoma fellowship.
