| Peter McDonnell, M.D. Chairman The Wilmer Institute of the Johns Hopkins University Hospital is the Sponsoring Institution of The Johns Hopkins Wilmer/Sinai/GBMC Training Program in Ophthalmology. The Wilmer Institute is the site of most of the residents' didactic programs (lectures, conferences and wet lab sessions). With the full-time faculty numbering over 50, the resident rotates through 8 subspecialties throughout their 3 years of training. Wilmer draws patients from the local East Baltimore community as well as regional, statewide, national and international referrals. The Institute contains over 70,000 square feet of patient care space, including six operating rooms, a minor surgical room, an Emergency Room, a General Eye Clinic and over 70 examination rooms among the various subspecialty divisions. | |
| C.P. Wilkinson, M.D. Chairman The Eye Clinic at GBMC has provided ophthalmic care for a stable population of patients in Northern Baltimore County and surrounding counties for over 30 years. In addition to the three full-time faculty members at GBMC, a large and talented attending faculty staff serve as teachers and consultants for the residents. Weinberg, M.D. Chief of Ophthalmology The Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center is affiliated with The Johns Hopkins University and provides ophthalmic care to a large patient population of East Baltimore. The first and third year resident and the Bayview faculty members are the primary ophthalmologists at this facility. The resident rotating at Bayview has the responsibility for the diagnosis and management of ocular problems in addition to providing ER care for any ocular emergencies at the Bayview Medical Center. ![]() | Wyman Park Medical Center is an outpatient general eye clinic located at the Johns Hopkins undergraduate campus and is part of Johns Hopkins Community Physicians. There are four exam lanes and a visual field room. Second-year residents rotate through Wyman Park with three faculty members and perform minor surgery in addition to managing a variety of ophthalmic diseases. In addition, Wyman Park serves as one of the introductory surgery rotations for residents performing cataract and glaucoma surgery; these surgeries are performed at Wilmer.
