Why Give to the The Wilmer Eye Institute

As the largest department of ophthalmology in the country, The Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins has earned international recognition for bringing together ophthalmologists consistently ranked by their peers as among the finest in the field. Patients cite our specially trained and highly experienced team of nurses for their knowledge, responsiveness, and sensitivity.

Patients come to one of Wilmer’s eight locations in Maryland from every state and more than 70 countries because they recognize that our staff provides the best care. More than 100 Wilmer alumni have gone on to become department chairs at academic medical centers around the world – no single group of faculty has had a greater influence in ophthalmology worldwide. Wilmer faculty are also making a difference in the field of ophthalmology through their research. We have the largest team of clinician-scientists working to find new treatments and cures in the fields of macular degeneration, glaucoma, eye cancers, cataract, Fuch’s dystrophy and other blinding eye diseases.
