Changes to Procedures for Dealing with Issues of Research Misconduct

The federal government revised the Public Health Service regulations on research misconduct, and the School of Medicine's research misconduct procedures were recently changed to reflect the new regulations. The regulatory and policy changes clarify the definition of misconduct, address whistleblower protection, highlight the importance of data retention, and clearly outline the rights of the accused.

The new School of Medicine policy is available online at: http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/
som/faculty/policies/facultypolicies/research_misconduct.html
. Hard copies are available by request from the Office of the Registrar.

To view applicable federal policies, statutes, and regulations, visit the Office of Research Integrity's (ORI) website at: http://ori.hhs.gov/policies/statutes.shtml.

For additional information, contact the Office of Policy Coordination, 410-516-5560.
