The following is a list of tips that will help facilitate the
review of private agreements, including but not limited to consulting,
scientific advisory board, and speakers bureau agreements.
For additional information, call or e-mail the Office of Policy
Coordination at 410-223-1608 or ccoi@jhmi.edu.
- Submit the proposed agreement to the Office of Policy Coordination
(OPC) as soon as you receive it from the company. OPCs
contact information is 111 Market Place, Suite 1030, Baltimore,
MD 21202; Phone: 410-223-1608; Fax: 410-223-1666; E-mail: ccoi@jhmi.edu.
- Include your complete contact information on all correspondence.
This is particularly important if your information in the JHED
directory is not accurate.
- Ensure that the agreement does not require you to use the
resources, facilities, or equipment of the Johns Hopkins University
or Johns Hopkins Hospital or Health System.
- Promptly communicate OPCs required changes to the company.
- Use your home address in all correspondence with the company
regarding consulting activities and provide the company with
the address in advance.
- Seek your department directors (division directors
in Department of Medicine) approval and return your consulting
disclosure form as soon as possible in order to minimize OPC
approval delays.
- Work with the company to ensure that all required changes
have been made. If you or the company have questions, call or
e-mail OPC.
- Do not sign the agreement until you receive written approval
from OPC.
- Do not send original agreements to OPC; send a copy of the
agreement.
- After OPC approves the agreement, send a final signed copy
to OPC for its records.
