LICENSING AND TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT- Back

New and Improved LTD Web Site: Visitors Welcome!

LTD is most pleased to announce the arrival of their new web site www.ltd.jhu.edu. There are significant improvements compared to the former site and we welcome you to explore. Visitors at the site can readily find sub menus for much of the information they are seeking related to licensing and technology development at JHU (except The JHU Applied Physics Laboratory as they have their own Technology Transfer Office, www.jhuapl.edu/ott ) by navigating through the left-side menu present on every page except PDFs and document links.

The "About Us" pages have a brief history and mission for intellectual property protection and licensing at JHU as well as a page that graphically shows report of invention volume and financial results.

It is now much easier to find our contact information as a complete staff directory in presented in two locations, in the "Contact Us" selection in the left menu and as a selection on the "About Us" landing page. In addition, the staff members that are directly involved in licensing are listed in the "Contact Technology Licensing Staff" selection on the "For Hopkins Inventors" landing page. And the staff members that are involved in marketing and technology development are listed in the "Contact Technology Development Staff" in the "Helping Business Partners" section.

JHU Faculty will find interesting information on the "For Hopkins Inventors" pages such as how to report an invention (forms included), the LTD Standard Operating Procedures, The JHU Intellectual Property Policy to read about such issues as royalty sharing, assignment, and other provisions e.g. publications, conflict of interest, confidentiality, etc. In addition, there are intellectual property FAQ's , entrepreneur FAQ's, and a section dealing with tangible property issues such as Material Transfer Agreements (forms included) and the collaboration with the American Type Culture Collection to establish the Johns Hopkins Special Collection at ATCC®.

Companies and those interested in how LTD interacts to help companies gain accessibility to JHU inventions and Faculty for technology transfer purposes will find discussion in the "Helping Business Partners" section relating to how LTD helps, how to license, Non-disclosure/ Confidentiality Agreements, as well as a link to the listing of JHU inventions (achieved also from the left menu) and a contact listing for Technology Development staff to initiate first steps and/or take next steps in the progression toward licensing from JHU.

The "Explore Hopkins Inventions" selection from the home page brings visitors to the complete listing of JHU inventions available for licensing inventions (not including those from The JHU Applies Physics Laboratory, see their link above). This section promotes the searching and viewing of the impressive intellectual property portfolio of JHU. Those inventions that have been licensed will remain viewable to not only support sub-licensing activities of our Licensees but also because some have specific fields of use that remain available for licensing. An example of this would be if we exclusively licensed a molecular target in the diagnostic field of use and it remains available for licensing in the therapeutic field of use.

It is important to be aware of the two separate search functions (non-Boolean) for the site. We are working to add a page dedicated to the search alternatives to make it easier and more efficient to perform searches, but for now the two search instructions are provided below.

To search "Explore Hopkins Inventions" section visitors must use the specific search box dedicated to searching only the invention listing. To find cancer vaccine inventions visitors need not use cancer AND vaccine to achieve their search result. This separation of search functioning is necessary because the information available for each of the inventions originates in a data base containing its own search function.

To search the LTD web site content for content such as policy, royalty-sharing, or contact information, and specifically not the inventions, there is a separate search function box dedicated to that goal.

The "What's New" section highlights educational events, conferences, presentations, publications, etc. that LTD participates in and/or hosts. We also post newsworthy information right on the Home Page. Visitors will also view a regularly rotation of inventions LTD is handling right on the right side of the Home Page. Clicking on them will bring visitors directly to the marketing summary for more information about the invention.

We at LTD view this new web site as a living site and very much wish to hear feedback from visitors. Please e-mail your thoughts and suggestions to techlicense@jhmi.edu and feel free to share the URL www.ltd.jhu.edu with colleagues and company contacts. The site was developed by a generous grant from TEDCO.
