HUMAN SUBJECTS RESEARCH - Back

Take the IRB Website Survey

The Office of Human Subjects is continually trying to improve the quality and quantity of on-line information we provide to members of the JHU clinical research community. In April, 2003, we redesigned the Johns Hopkins Medicine Institutional Review Board website. Please help us in this endeavor by completing a survey regarding your experience using the new IRB Web site. The survey should not take any more than five minutes to complete. The information collected through the on-line questionnaire is submitted anonymously and all responses are confidential. All data that we receive will be aggregated and used to improve and enhance the IRB Website.

The on-line survey is located at http://irb.jhmi.edu/survey. If you have any questions, please email Aaron Sorensen at aaron.sorensen@jhmi.edu. Thank you in advance for your help.

Bayview IRB Moving

We have completed the relocation of the East Baltimore Office of Human Subjects Research (OHSR), as well Johns Hopkins Medicine IRBs (JHM IRBs) 1 to 4, to Reed Hall. The new address of OHSR is 1620 McElderry Street, Reed Hall, Suite B-130, Baltimore, MD 21205. The office is located in the basement of Reed Hall and walk-in hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The phone numbers remain the same.

To improve the JHM IRB service delivery system and as part of the planned reorganization of the IRBs, we will consolidate many of the functions of the East Baltimore and Bayview branches of the Office of Human Subjects Research. Thus, IRB staff will be moving from Bayview to Reed Hall. The Bayview office will be closed on Thursday, September 25 and Friday, September 26 for this move. This reorganization will not change the location or schedule of IRB 5 meetings, which will continue to meet on Mondays at the Bayview campus.

Beginning on September 29, 2003, the Bayview office will be open on Mondays and Thursdays only. On Mondays, the office will be staffed from 9 am - noon and approximately 3 - 5 pm (following the completion of the convened IRB meeting). On Thursdays, the office will be staffed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Bayview JHM IRB 5 staff will be working out of the Reed Hall office the remainder of the week. Telephones will be answered at the Bayview office while the office is staffed and phones will be forwarded to the Reed Hall office at other times. All files will be transferred to the Reed Hall office and staff at that office will be prepared to answer questions about research being conducted at the Bayview campus. Mail may be dropped off at the Bayview office during office hours on Monday and Thursday, or may be placed in the mail room of the Asthma and Allergy Center (AAC). Mail placed in the mail room will be promptly forwarded to Reed Hall.

We are working hard to develop a staff structure that will support all IRB activities in a more efficient and consistent manner. We ask for your patience and welcome your suggestions during this period of transition. We will evaluate our revised staffing structure in the spring and make any necessary changes, to ensure that service to the Bayview campus is not compromised by the staff consolidation.
