GRANT AND CONTRACT PROCEDURES- Back

Expanded eIS (electronic Information Sheet) Training Program.

The SOM Office of Research Administration is now offering three types of eIS training. Please visit http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/research/resources/eIStraining.html for the complete February 2005 eIS training schedule.

Faculty eIS training sessions provide a brief overview of the eIS system and instruct PIs how to complete the compliance section of the eIS. All faculty are encouraged to attend. Sessions last approximately 30 minutes.

Hands-on eIS training sessions demonstrate how to create, complete, and circulate an eIS. All staff who process information sheets on a regular basis are encouraged to attend. Sessions last approximately 90 minutes and pre-registration is required.

eIS refresher courses provide an opportunity for staff to ask questions about the eIS. Staff who have previously attended a hands-on session or are unable to attend a hands-on session are encouraged to attend. Sessions last approximately 30 minutes to one hour, depending on the volume of questions.

For additional information about eIS, please visit the SOM eIS page at http://www.

Salary Cap Increase

The National Institutes of Health announced that, effective January 1, 2005, the Executive Level I salary level increased from $175,700 to $180,100. If a grant award (competing or non-competing) has already been issued in federal FY 2005, no salary adjustments will be made. However, rebudgeting is allowable. For additional information, view the NIH announcement at: http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-05-024.html

Course on Research Ethics (C.O.R.E.) offered on February 22nd

School of Medicine policy requires that all faculty members and fellows involved in human subject research must attend C.O.R.E., or an equivalent program, by June 30, 2006. Fellows must meet the C.O.R.E. requirement before the end of their training period.

C.O.R.E. combines an in-person course with online instruction designed to teach faculty and fellows about human subjects protections and the responsible conduct of research. To register for the February 22nd course, please visit http://www.hopkinscme.net/
