GRANT AND CONTRACT PROCEDURES- Back

New ORA Staff

The Office of Research Administration (ORA) is pleased to announce that as of September 1st, three new staff members will be on board.

Gayle Mowbray Walters has rejoined our office as an Associate Director, taking over Stewart Craig's former assignments. Gayle worked in research administration in the JHU Controller's office and the JHSPH as well as in our own ORA. She then spent about six years at the University of Maryland in Sponsored Projects and in Oncology. Thus, she's able to "hit the ground running" and assume her responsibilities immediately.

We also have two new Senior Sponsored Projects Specialists. Lealie Perry, who has been working with us during the past month, came to us from JHPIEGO and before that gained experience in the legal departments and contracting areas of several companies in the private sector. Isela Robison will join us on or about September 1. Isela's sponsored projects work took place in El Paso, Texas, and more recently in York,
Pennsylvania. Departmental assignments for Lealie and Isela will be publicized shortly.

School of Medicine Electronic Info Sheet (eIS) Training Sessions

Johns Hopkins University will be launching a new Electronic Information Sheet (eIS) for grants and contract applications and administrative actions. This new eIS will soon replace the current paper version of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Information Sheet. Check the eIS training sessions schedule here: http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/research/resources/eIStraining.html

New NSF Grants Proposal Guide

As of September 1, 2004, the NSF will have a new Grants Proposal Guide. This revision includes descriptions of the various categories of funding opportunities, new information on the types of submissions that may be required under NSF program solicitations, and implements enhanced capabilities in FastLane for submission of proposal file updates. The new guide can be found at: http://www.nsf.gov/pubsys/ods/getpub.cfm?gpg
