NIH NCRR High-End Instrumentation Grant Program

INTERNAL DEADLINE: AUGUST 6, 2007

The announcement and guidelines for the NIH National Center for Research Resources High-End Instrumentation Grant Program have been posted and are available at the following link: http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PAR-07-383.html. Please note that applications must be submitted to Grants.gov no later than 5:00p EDT, September 17, 2007. Paper applications will not be accepted.

Applications are limited to a single major item of equipment to be used for biomedical research that costs at least $750,000. There is no limit to the cost of the equipment, but the maximum award is $2,000,000. Instruments in this category include, but are not limited to, structural and functional imaging systems, macromolecular NMR spectrometers, high-resolution mass spectrometers, cryoelectron microscopes and supercomputers. NCRR intends to fund approximately 10 - 15 new awards. Letters of intent (LOI) are due August 17, 2007. Letters of intent are not binding. They allow NCRR to estimate the number of applications that will need review. The LOI also guarantees the potential applicant notice if there are any changes to the PAR. Only one application per type of equipment may be submitted from the institution. Please advise Gayle Mowbray Walters (gmwalters@jhmi.edu) in our office of your interest in applying for this program, including the type of equipment, no later than MONDAY, AUGUST 6, 2007, so that we can determine if more than one group wants to apply for the same type of equipment. She can also submit the LOI on your behalf.

Eligibility requirements include identifying a user group of three or more investigators. A minimum of three major users must be Principal Investigators on NIH peer reviewed research grants at the time of application and award.

If more than one application for the same or similar type of equipment is being requested from another JHU division, the Vice Provost for Research will determine which application is selected.
