National Science Foundation - Partnerships for Innovation (PFI) Program 2006 RESPONSE NEEDED BY: Monday, May 15, 2006 NSF invites applications in response to the
Partnerships for Innovation Program; NSF 06-550. The program announcement
indicates that the goals of the Partnerships for Innovation Program are
to: 1) stimulate the transformation of knowledge created by the research
and education enterprise; 2) broaden the participation of all types of
academic institutions and all citizens in NSF activities; and 3) catalyze
or enhance enabling infrastructure necessary to foster and sustain innovation
in the long-term. To develop a set of ideas for pursuing these goals,
this competition will support 10-15 promising partnerships among academe,
the private sector, and state/local/ federal government that will explore
new approaches to support and sustain innovation. Although Johns Hopkins is eligible to submit
two proposals, it can submit only one (1) proposal as the lead institution,
and can be a non-leading partner on only one (1) other proposal. If, however,
Hopkins is not the lead institution on any proposal, it can be a non-leading
partner on a maximum of two (2) proposals.
Required materials should be sent, via email,
to graceb@jhu.edu by Monday, May 15,
2006 to ensure that the internal selection can be completed in a timely
fashion and the selected nominees' Letter(s) of Intent can be submitted
to NSF, via FastLane by the June 28, 2006 deadline.
Deadline: May 15, 2006 (Letters of Intent) NARSAD, the Mental Health Research Association ( http://www.narsad.org/ ) (previously known as the NationalAlliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression) awards research grants to scientists at universities, institutions, and teaching hospitals in the United States and other countries. The NARSAD Distinguished Investigator Award Program offers up to $100,000 for a one-year period and is intended for established scientists who maintain competitively funded peer-reviewed scientific programs. The NARSAD Distinguished Investigator Award program supports basic and/or clinical investigators. Research must be relevant to schizophrenia, major affective disorders, or other serious mental illnesses, including research with bipolar disorders, borderline disorders with depression and suicide, and research with children. Applicants must have full professor (or equivalent) status and maintain competitively funded peer-reviewed programs. Since applicants are already funded, it is essential that the letter of intent state how the proposed work is not feasible without new funds. NARSAD does not seek to extend the current work of established investigators, but rather to stimulate new approaches and projects from senior investigators.
