Sontag Foundation Distinguished Scientist Awards

Each three-year award will provide a brain cancer research grant totaling up to $500,000. The application deadline is NOON March 22, 2005 with grants to begin October 1, 2005.

Through Distinguished Scientist Awards, The Sontag Foundation seeks to fund innovative brain cancer research while providing support and recognition to help advance the careers of outstanding brain tumor researchers who have recently (within 3 years) attained their first faculty appointment. These early career scientists must show exceptional promise of impacting brain cancer research through projects exhibiting the potential to lead to increased rates of survival and/or improved functional recovery for individuals with brain tumors.

Eight outstanding researchers are currently being funded through The Sontag Foundation's Distinguished Scientist Awards. Three additional awards are anticipated in 2005. More than one individual may apply from a single institution.

Applications and eligibility guidelines are available for 2005 Distinguished Scientist Awards at www.sontagfoundation.com. Interested applicants should contact Ms. Elizabeth McMahon, Senior Associate Director of Foundations Relations at Johns Hopkins, prior to submitting an application. Ms. McMahon can be reached at 410-516-4605 or e-mail at emcmahon@jhu.edu.
