American Heart Association Program Deadlines
The American Heart Association announces
its January 2004 deadlines. Program information, forms and instructions

In addition to
affiliate awards, the Fellow-to-Faculty Transition Award,
supported in part by the Mid-Atlantic Affiliate, and the Scientist
Development Grant are AHA awards available nationally. The application
deadline is January 12, 2004.
Albany Medical Center Prize in
Medicine and Biomedical Research
This is the largest prize of its kind in
the United States. The $500,000 prize is awarded to a physician,
biomedical scientist, or group of physicians or scientists who
have made extraordinary and sustained leadership contributions
to improving healthcare and patient care; or who have successfully
pursued innovative biomedical research with demonstrated translational
benefits applied to improved patient care. The deadline for nominations
for this prize is January 15, 2004. For more details, including

Department of Defense Ovarian Cancer Research Program
Two new funding opportunities have been
announced: 1) Idea Development Awards, and 2) New Investigator
Research Awards. Program Announcements can be downloaded from
http://cdmrp.army.mil/funding/04ocrp.htm.
The submission deadline for both of these
announcements is Tuesday, February 3 2004, 5:00 P.M. Eastern
Time.
Electronic submission of proposals must
be accomplished via the CDMRP eReceipt Online Proposal Submission
site, and can be accessed at https://cdmrp.org/proposals.
Department
of Defense Prostate Cancer Research Program Funding Opportunities
The Fiscal Year 2004 (FY04) Defense Appropriations
Act provides $85 million to the Department of Defense Prostate
Cancer Research Program (PCRP) to support innovative research
directed toward eliminating prostate cancer. This program is administered
by the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command through
the Office of the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs
(CDMRP).
FY04 PCRP Program Announcements for proposals
in the following mechanisms are expected to be released late November
2003:
- Idea Development Awards
- New Investigator Awards
- Exploration - Resource Development Awards
- Exploration - Hypothesis Development
Awards
- Postdoctoral Traineeship Awards
- Physician Research Training Awards
