FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES - Back

THIS [ICE] PROGRAM IS NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS (4/03)

Submitting Proposals for Affiliated ICE Program Funding

The Institute for Cell Engineering (ICE) was established in 2001 with an anonymous gift, and was designed to support projects pertaining to stem cell biology and engineering. The mission of ICE is to develop cellular engineering core technologies enabling application of curative approaches to specific human diseases. At present, there are three Core ICE Programs (CIP) which have been designated to be housed in ICE space and receive ICE resources. These programs consist of basic research in the areas of stem cell biology, immunobiology, and cell fate determination. Affiliated ICE Programs (AIP) will consist of Sections that will be allocated ICE resources but housed in non-ICE (departmental) space. The AIP will focus on stem cell research for therapeutic purposes.

Affiliated ICE Programs will be selected from well-defined proposals that are translational in nature and for which an association with ICE has clear intellectual benefits; and interdisciplinary cores that will augment the scientific programs of the component ICE units. ICE is now accepting letters of intent for Affiliated ICE Programs on a continuous basis. If you are interested in applying for AIP funding, please submit a letter of intent and abstract to the address below. You will be promptly informed whether you should proceed to submit a full proposal. If you are invited to prepare a full proposal, you will be given specific application forms and instructions at that time. Letters of intent and abstracts should be submitted to the ICE Advisory Committee at the following address:

The next application deadline for the FMD is November 1, 2002. The primary goal of the FMD is to enhance interdisciplinary and interdepartmental research at Johns Hopkins. The highest priority will be given to proposals that clearly will lead to new extramural grant applications for core resources, shared instrumentation, program-projects, research centers, etc. For full application guidelines and instructions, click here: http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/research/fmd.html
