• The latest round of Grand Challenges in Global Health Initiative Explorations grants offered by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health, and the Wellcome Trust (http://www.grandchallenges.org/explorations/

• Several grant programs from the American Federation for Aging Research and Ellison Medical Foundation including the Julie Martin Mid-Career Award in Aging to support outstanding scientists who propose novel directions in biological gerontology (http://www.afar.org/Ellison%20Mid-Career.html); and

New at the Genetics Resources Core Facility (GRCF)

The DNA Analysis Facility, a division of the Genetics Resources Core Facility (http://grcf.jhmi.edu/) now offers self service access to a Taqman® 7900HT with a Taqman® Low Density Array (TLDA) block, in addition to the standard 96 and 384 well blocks. The TaqMan® Array is a 384-well micro fluidic card that enables a researcher to perform 384 simultaneous real-time PCR reactions without the need to use liquid-handling robots or multichannel pipettors to fill the card.
