BME Longitudinal Design Teams As part of the Undergraduate Program in Biomedical Engineering and its Longitudinal Design Team Courses, we are soliciting potential design projects from faculty (physicians/surgeons/researchers) in the School of Medicine. The course revolves around developing devices or artifacts for medical school faculty based on their specific needs. The students involved in this course are undergraduates who will be working with you towards developing a prototype from your problem statement. Thus far the teams have been successful in delivering medical device prototypes for their respective sponsors, which has culminated in one (1) startup company, one (1) licensing agreement, four (4) full patent applications and seven (7) provisional patent applications. There is no direct cost to the faculty sponsors for their services. If you are interested in submitting a project (2005-06
academic year) by which you can leverage the expertise of biomedical engineering
students please visit http://www.bme. The web page also describes the program in more detail and projects from the past, and it provides the mechanism for submitting a short problem statement. Please contact any one of us if you have any questions. Robert H. Allen, PhD, PE Aditya Polsani Artin A. Shoukas, Ph.D.
