Current TRICARE Prime members can still transfer to the US Family Health Plan and be a member for life.

Beginning August 21, 2012, only current TRICARE Prime members can transfer to the Johns Hopkins US Family Health Plan and be a member for life.

Johns Hopkins USFHP will be accepting transfers from current TRICARE Prime members through September.

What does this mean to you?

  • If you are currently enrolled in TRICARE Prime, you can still transfer to the Johns Hopkins US Family Health Plan through September and your membership in the Plan would be preserved for you regardless of age, provided you maintain continuous enrollment.
  • If you are currently a member you do not need to change or do anything, you will be grandfathered in and allowed to remain a member for life.*

New TRICARE Enrollees – Not Currently Enrolled in Prime

New TRICARE enrollment received by the 20th of any month becomes effective on the first day of the following month. Click here to view the TRICARE Enrollment Deadline calendar. Note that this  applies to those NOT currently enrolled in TRICARE Prime.

What this means is that applications for enrollees who are new to TRICARE Prime that are received after August 20, 2012 will have an effective date of October 1, 2012 or later.

These new members will be required to exit the Plan when they turn age 65.

*Continuous enrollment is required for members age 65 and older. If a member aged 65 or older dis-enrolls, they will not be able to re-enroll in the US Family Health Plan.
