Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute will be moving its Odenton office to the new medical complex known as Odenton Gateway and will start seeing patients at its new location starting on Monday, Dec. 10.
The new second-floor office, located at the corner of Route 175 and Sappington Station Drive, will have over 3,000 square feet and include eight examination rooms and expanded on-site services with new diagnostic equipment. The new office will continue to serve as an extension of the Wilmer Eye Institute’s outpatient surgical services and will provide residents of Anne Arundel County and surrounding counties with expanded ophthalmic care. The facility will have two ophthalmologists and two optometrists.
“This expanded facility will allow Wilmer to offer prompt and convenient access in order to better meet the needs of our patients and referring doctors in the Odenton area. Many patients will now be able to have their eye problems (including both rare and common disorders) managed closer to home, and won’t need to travel to the main Wilmer facility in downtown Baltimore,” says Peter McDonnell, M.D., William Holland Wilmer Professor of Ophthalmology and director of the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins. “Our team of doctors at this expanded facility will care for patients, young and old, with corneal problems, cataracts and retinal diseases."
The relocation of Wilmer’s Odenton office is part of a bigger move involving the Johns Hopkins Medicine Community Physicians (JHCP), which will also move into the 60,000-square-foot Odenton Gateway building.
The building, a joint $14 million project between Johns Hopkins Medicine and Anne Arundel Health System, will allow both medical institutions to increase primary care and specialty outpatient health care services already provided by both institutions in Odenton and surrounding areas. Other JHCP services provided at the new location include radiology and medical laboratory services, orthopedics, neurology, cardiology, internal medicine, family practice, oncology, rehabilitation, gastroenterology and pediatric services.
