Johns Hopkins Medicine United Way Campaign 2008

October 13 — 24

United Way Executives
Joanne Pollak, Edward Miller and Ronald Peterson

Dear Colleagues,

Your support of the United Way of Central Maryland has been remarkable. As we launch our2008 Live United campaign today, we ask you to join us in continuing that commitment to inspire hope and create opportunities for our neighbors in need.

Given the tough and uncertain economic times challenging Maryland families—including those of Hopkins faculty and staff—this year’s campaign represents a tremendous opportunity to help. Johns Hopkins Medicine has established a 2008 fund-raising goal of $1.48 million. Our campaign chair, Joanne Pollak, and her planning committee, coordinators and team captains, are leading the effort, and we are confident we’ll be successful.

We urge you to take a moment and think about those who struggle to meet the most basic living needs that many of us take for granted. Consider what a difference your contribution can make infunding health and human service programs and initiatives to educate our youth and help them plan for their future, to protect our children from violence, abuse and neglect, and to strengthen our families and communities.

We invite you to join us and pledge now at https://portal.johnshopkins.edu/unitedway through our simple and convenient online process, which provides tips to maximize your contribution. If you'd prefer a paper pledge, you may download apledge form at our improved United Way site at http://hopkinsmedicine.org/unitedway/. It is an excellent resource for answers to frequently-asked questions, unitgoals and video vignettes about how our colleagues help and have been helped by United Way.

Help Johns Hopkins Medicine do its part. Thank you.

Never in my life did I ever think that we would need charity. I so believe in the United Way. I’ve always believed in it. It’s a great way to be assured that what you’re giving reaches the people who need it.
