Spyridon S. Marinopoulos, MD, MBA - Director
Assistant Professor of Medicine


Dr. Marinopoulos is a Board Certified General Internist and Assistant Professor of Medicine who has served as the Director of University Health Services as of March 2006.  He completed his undergraduate studies with a degree in Chemistry from The University of Chicago. He received his MD degree from the University Of Chicago Pritzker School Of Medicine and his MBA from the University Of Chicago Graduate School Of Business, with a concentration in Health Administration and Policy. He received his Internal Medicine training at New York Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell Medical Center. After 2 years in private practice, Dr. Marinopoulos joined the full time faculty in the Division of General Internal Medicine at Johns Hopkins in 2001. He has published in the area of evidence based medicine and has interests in the areas of university health and health care administration.

Kyungeun Carol Han, MHS - Senior Administrative Manager


Carol Han is the Senior Administrative Manager of UHS. Carol earned her Master of Health Science (MHS) degree in Health Policy and Management from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Wellesley College. Prior to her current position at UHS, Carol served as Administrator of the Johns Hopkins University’s Older Americans Independence Center, Scientific Administrator, Senior Research Associate and Faculty member in the Center on Aging and Health, and Administrator of the Training Program in Epidemiology and Biostatistics of Aging. Her work experience includes managed care, the Public Health Service and research in health policy.

Sharon O'Neil, CRNP - Clinic Nurse Practitioner Manager


 Sharon has been a nurse practitioner with UHS since February 2011.  In May 2012 she assumed the role of the Nurse Practitioner Manager of UHS.  Sharon is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. She earned a diploma in nursing from the Maryland General Hospital School of Nursing, a Bachelor’s in Nursing from Notre Dame of Maryland University, a Master’s in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania and a law degree for the University of Baltimore School Of Law.  She completed postmaster’s certification as a pediatric nurse practitioner and a family nurse practitioner at Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. She is completing a Doctor of Nursing Practice program at The Catholic University. Her areas of interest include nursing and the law, school health services, mental health in children and adults.

Darnell Williams- Benefits Manager


Darnell has been a Johns Hopkins University employee since 1984 and has worked with the University Health Service Benefits Office since 1987. His vast amount of experience and knowledge has allowed him to be a recognized voice and advocate of students and UHS for many years. He remains committed to addressing the needs and concerns of the UHS program and its participants.

Charlene Phipps-Administrative Supervisor


Charlene joined our staff in November 2006. Prior to joining UHS, Charlene worked for the Johns Hopkins University's Department of Ophthalmology for six years and brings a wealth of experience to her new position. She is the administrative supervisor and assitant to Dr. Marinopoulos and Carol Han. Charlene is the contact person for matters related to UHS senior administrative meetings including the monthly Student Health Committee meetings.
