Evening, Weekend and Holiday Coverage
All students, house staff, fellows, trainees and spouses have been assigned a primary care provider at the health center. If you have a problem after hours (after 5 p.m.) on a weekday, or during the weekend (5 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Monday), or during a University holiday, please call the Johns Hopkins Hospital's page operator at (410) 955-4331 and ask for your assigned provider or for their covering doctor. The page operator will then page the physician with your message and you will receive a call back.
Please remember to ask for your primary care provider by name when you call the page operator. For example, if you are a patient of Dr. Marinopoulos, ask then operator to page Dr. Marinopoulos, if you are a patient of Dr. Codori, ask for Dr. Codori, etc. For a list of health center providers, please click here.
Note: If you do not know who your assigned provider is, please follow the following instructions:
During the week (Monday through Friday, after 5 pm):
Tell the page operator that you are a UHS patient and ask them to page Mary Wippel, the UHS Nurse Practitioner. On the next business day, please call UHS at (410) 955-3250 and ask for the name of your assigned provider. The next time you need advice in the evening or during the weekend, ask the page operator to call your assigned provider.
During the weekend (5 pm Friday through 8 am Monday) or on a University holiday:
Tell the page operator that you are a UHS patient and ask them to page the General Internal Medicine Faculty practice physician on-call. On the next business day, please call UHS at (410) 955-3250 and ask for the name of your assigned provider. The next time you need advice in the evening or during the weekend, ask the page operator to call your assigned provider.
Note: Your health plan allows you to pick a physician outside Johns Hopkins Hospital for your health care. If you have chosen an outside physician and you have a health problem after hours, please call your physician's office for assistance, as our health center providers will not be able to assist you.
