Thank you for your interest in living kidney donation at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. This online registration tool is available for those interested in donating their kidney to a current Johns Hopkins kidney transplant patient. This comprehensive online questionnaire is designed to gather basic demographic and health information. Once your form is received the Living Donor Team will contact you to discuss your form and whether or not you are an appropriate candidate for living donation.
- Good physical and mental health
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must have a body mass index (BMI) that is less than 35
- Must be free from the following:
- Uncontrolled high blood pressure in certain induviduals
- Organ diseases
- Infectious diseases
Finally, all live kidney donations must be a completely voluntary decision. Donors should be free from any pressure or guilt associated with the donation, and cannot be paid for their donation. In 1984, the U.S. Congress passed the National Organ Transplant Act, which makes it illegal to buy or sell organs.
