Deceased Donor Liver Transplants

Deceased Donor Liver Transplantation

Many transplant candidates do not have the option of a living donor.  They must receive an organ from a deceased donor – that is, someone who through unfortunate trauma is brain dead, while the other organs still function.

The Johns Hopkins liver transplant team examines deceased donor organs before offering them to our patients to ensure that they are appropriately matched.
